During the residency of Fosun Foundation, I created this series of works titled Fu Lu Shou Xi (Blessing, Prosperity, Longevity, Happiness). The inspiration came from a palindrome lattice window in Shanghai’s Yu Garden. Traditionally, such symmetrical windows and palindrome characters were blessings dedicated by the garden’s owner to his parents. I reinterpreted them through a more contemporary lens. 

For me, “Fu” stands for luck, “Lu” for prosperity, “Shou” for health, and “Xi” for emotional happiness. The works retain the classical flavor of the garden while introducing a sense of flow and freshness. What I wanted to convey is this: the future may not be about dramatic change—it is, in fact, a subtle extension of the present moment.
